Teaching Reflections 小学开设英语课是当代社会发展的需要,可以有效地提高我国英语水平。小学生模仿力、记忆力、可塑性强,具有许多成年人甚至中学生不具备的优越条件,小学开设英语可以发挥他们学习语言的潜力。小学开设英语课可以使小学生了解其他国家和民族的优秀文化传统,开阔眼界,扩展他们的知识,提高他们的思想品德修养,树立国际意识。因此,我市已经从小学三年级开始开设英语课,采用的是PEP教材。这套教材把语言功能、结构、话题、任务有机结合,采用了多种教学方法,并注意利用多种媒体。
本堂课中间主要还采用了课前运动,分组比赛,分组演练,游戏活动,等一系列形式来进行这节课的教学,其主要目的在于培养三年级学生对英语产生浓郁的学习兴趣。俗话说:“兴趣是最好的老师”。我要说,兴趣也是学习好英语的前提,当然任何事物都是这样。除此之外,逐步认知身体部位的新授单词以及本课的重点句型 “This is my…”。
因为每一个环节的紧凑安排,合理的分散重,难点等环节,使学生不自觉的在欢快的氛围当中已经做到了学以致用,这也是我的目的所在。不过,我觉得在一些细节操作上仍然有所欠缺。在小组练习句型游戏时,学生对新句型掌握不太牢固,因而有些学生说出来的时候不是那么准确。在以后的教学中,我会努力加强个人文化知识的学习以及让学生有效及时地掌握理解新知识,巩固旧知识,让课堂变得更加生动形象有趣。

Background of English teaching in primary school: It is not a long history that English is as a subject in primary school in our country and the main instructional aims of teaching English in primary school is to cultivate pupils’ basic abilities of their listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language.Our boys and girls are exposed to English for the first time, so it is very important to develop their keeninterest in English.
I.Contents:
Today I’m going to talk about Part B of Unit 2, PEP Primary English, Book 3.This leon includes two parts: Let’s talk and let’s practice.In section 1, it mainly deals with the dialogue about “What’s in the schoolbag?” and the answers.And in section 2, it provides a real situation for the Ss to prastise the pattern: How many +n.(pl.)+ do you have? And the answer: I have 23 +n.(pl.)

As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupils’ basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language.So in this leon I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method.That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in real situations, finish a task by making a survey to help the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue.I will arrange four kinds of activities: singing, gueing game, finishing a survey and having a competition.And in this leon a recorder, CAI, school things and a printed form will be
needed.Students should prepare some school things.
VI.Teaching procedures and purposes of my designing.
I’ll finish this leon in five steps.
Step 1.Warm-up and preview
1.Free talk between T and Ss about things in the claroom.
2.Sing the song together: Books and pencils.
3.Do some TPR, for example: Show me your English book.Show me your crayon.
4.Review the numbers by asking: “How many crayons do you have?”
Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss by singing and doing some total physical response and at the same time it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step.
Step 2.Presentation
Now I’ll mainly talk about this step.
1.Present the pattern: “My schoolbag is heavy.” “What’s in it?.”
(1) Show a bag and say: “Look! I have a bag.” Carry it and say: “Oh, it is heavy.My schoolbag is heavy.” Help the Ss understand the meaning with the help of my body language.Then lead the Ss to read the sentence.Make sure they can say it correctly.
(2) T: My schoolbag is heavy.
Open the bag and say: “What’s in it? What’s in my schoolbag?”
Take out a Chinese book.Then do the action again.Let the Ss read the sentence.
2.Play a gueing game.Divide the whole cla into four groups to have a competition.Let them gue: What’s in the bag? How many? Purpose: To present the key structures one by one is much easier for the Ss to learn and grasp the meanings.Proper competition can arouse the Ss’ interest in English learning.
3.With the help of the CAI to present the dialogue.Set a situation to help Ss understand: Two Ss are coming.One girl is carrying a heavy bag on her back.They are talking.
Girl: My schoolbag is heavy.
Boy: What’s in it?
Girl: 20 story-books, 32 pencil, 9 rulers, 12 crayons and 30 picture-books.Etc.Boy: What will you do?
Girl: They are for the poor.
Boy: Great! I’ll bring some school things too.
The boy comes back home and puts a lot of things into the bag.Then he goes to school again and gives them to a teacher.While he is taking them out, he is counting the numbers of all things.The teacher says: Thank you soooooooo much.
4.Mention that we should take care of the poor.
5.Play the caette.Let the Ss listen and imitate the dialogue.
Pay attention to their pronunciation and intonation.Purpose: CAI can provide a real situation for the Ss to understand the dialogue and the relationships between people better.Tell the Ss we should show our loveline to the Ss.
Step 3.Practice
Divide Ss into groups of six children.Each one would finish the printed form by asking and answering: How many storybooks do you have? Step 5.Add-activity
1.Let Ss tell each other how many school things they have after cla.Tell their parents how many school things they have at home.
2.Take care of everything they have.
Purpose: Revision is so important that Ss should speak English as much as they as in cla or after cla.It is neceary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after cla to consolidate the knowledge they learned.

We are facing the 5 to 6-year-old little kids who just graduated from the kindergarten ,and they can not tell the difference between kindergarten and the primary school.sometimes they even don’t know how to behave in the cla.So ,I think the most important thing for me to do is to attract their interests and make them love English and feel confident in this subject .so ,I will play some interesting games with them ,show them the funny cartoon movie and role the plays in the text or have a competation.we should not only focus on the language point itself ,but also set up the real circumstance where I can encourage them to expre themselves better .What I try my best to do is to arouse the kids’ interests and protect their enthusiasm。
三、Analysis of the teaching methods (说教法) says that during the Foundation Education period ,the total goal for English leon is to improve the pupils’ ability of comprehensive using language .It promotes task teaching structure .According to the little kids’ physical and psychological characteristics of keeping curios ,active and imitating and showing themselves .I adopt the “task –research—construct ” teaching methods and organize the cla to focus on the importance and solve the difficulties .I give the pupils an open and relaxed circumstance in which they can learn to observe ,think and discu .during this procedure ,the pupils’ ability of thinking and using language is developed very well .

So in this leon, I will mainly use ―Task- based teaching method‖, ―TPR teaching method‖ and ―situational teaching method‖.At the same time, make use of the multimedia and all kinds of teaching means, it can mobilize the students’ enthusiasm.
Now it comes to the most important part---teaching procedures.I will finish this leon in 5 steps: Warming-up, presentation, practice, consolidation and homework..
First, let’s go to step 1, warming-up.I t will cost about 2 mins.To begin the cla, I will sing the song ―Let’s sing hello together ‖ with the students.I think singing a song can make students feel pleased and satisfied, lead the students into a thick English studying atmosphere.
After sing a song , I will start to the new leon.So I will talk about step 2 –presentation.I t will cost about 15 mins.At first, I will present these new words by the pictures.―Look at the picture, she is my grandma, this is my little brother, my grandma is old, and little brother is young.So can you gue, what meaning is young?‖ I will also present new words by my body language.― strong ,strong, strong, can you gue what meaning is strong?‖ Then we will play a gueing game.One students will be asked to come to the front to perform the word, and other students gue quickly and speak it out. The purpose of this is to present the new words and sentences in the situation, which relates to the students’ real life experiences, to help the students understand the language easily and naturally.
Here is step 3—practice.It will cost about 15 mins.First, I will let the students do pair work activity, play roles with their partner by asking and answering.Then the students will do the group activity, I will divide the cla into groups of three or four, ask them discu in group and making a new dialogue.It can develop students’ ability of communication and cooperation, it can also check if students can use these new words and sentences correctly and skillfully.
OK, let’s go to step 4—consolidation.I t will cost about 5 mins I will consolidate the knowledge they have learned in the cla by listening in the tape and reading the chant together.So as to make them feel relaxed and satisfied.
For the last step—homework.I t will cost about 2 mins.I will get the students to interview their friends asking_______ and make records of the information as their homework.In order to exercises the knowledge they learned.
Finally, I will talk about my blackboard design.I will write the topic and the key words and phrases on the blackboard, in order to let the students know the important points and remember them.

Firstly, I talk about my contents.Today I’m going to talk about Phonetics.This leon includes two parts: Let’s talk and let’s practice.In section 1, it mainly deals with the dialogue about “What’s your name?” , “How are you?”and the answers.And in section 2, I play some games with students.
II.Teaching aims
Secondly, I talk about teaching aims.1.Aims on the knowledge (1) To enable the Students to understand what phonetics are: “They are like pinyin in Chinese you, they make up English words.” Make sure that Students can understand the meaning and functions of phonetics. (2) To help Students to know about the 48 phonetics.(3) Let Students know how to pronounce the 48 phonetics.2.Aims on the abilities (1) To develop Ss’ abilities of listening and reading..(2) To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups.
(3) To foster Ss’ abilities of communication and their innovation.(4) To develop Ss’ abilities of reading phonetics and words correctly.3.Aims on the emotion (1)To foster Ss’ consciousne of good co-operation and proper competition.(2) To lead Ss to show their loveline to the poor.

I’ll finish this leon in five steps.Step 1.Warm-up and preview 1.Free talk between T and Ss about things in the claroom.2.Sing the song together: A,B,C songs 3.Do some TPR, for example: Show me your English book.Show me your crayon.4.Review the numbers by asking: “How many crayons do you have?”

Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss by singing and doing some total physical response and at the same time it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step.
Step 2.Presentation Now I’ll mainly talk about this step.
1.Ask Ss questions: “What is pinyin?” “What’s the functions of pinyin?” “What are phonetics?” “How many phonetics are there in English?”
(1) Tell them the function of phonetics just like the function of pinyin in Chinese.Make sure they can understand.(2) Let Ss retell the meaning and function of phonetics.
2.Play a gueing game.Use the magic scior to divide the whole cla into two groups to have a competition.Let them gue: How many phonetics in English? Purpose: To present the key structures one by one is much easier for the Ss to learn and grasp the meanings.Proper competition can arouse the Ss’ interests in English learning.3.Let each group pick a presenter to play the game: write 26 small English letters on the blackboard.The group who write the letters quicker and correct can win the game and win a smiling face for the group.4.Learn the 17 consonant firstly.

Step 3.Practice Let Ss read the phonetics I pick group by group.
Purpose: To check the knowledge Ss have learned in this period.
Step 4.Homework 1.Practice the pronounces of 17 consonant phonetics, find a word to match each phonetics 2.Recite and dictation the 17 consonant phonetics.
Purpose: Revision is so important that Ss should speak English as much as they as in cla or after cla.It is neceary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after cla to consolidate the knowledge they learned.

This leon is about a shopping topic.By study of this unit, the Ss know how to ask the price in English and how to describe the size and price with simple words and sentences.The sentence patterns of this leon “What size?” “How much are they?” and “we’ll take them.” are the key and difficult points of this unit.The study of this leon will help the Ss with daily communication.
Moreover, this leon completes the transition of the phrase “a pair of… ”to the sentence pattern “A pair of… for …” ,and helps the Ss further consolidate the knowledge of words of clothing appearing in plural form.
Therefore, on studying the teaching material and analyzing the regulation of children’s growing of mind, I put forward the teaching objectives according to new English leon standard.1.Perception objective: a) The Ss can hear, read, and use the main sentence patterns “A pair of … for …” “What size?” “How much are they?” “We’ll take them.” b) The Ss can understand and read the conversation of the leon.2.Ability objective: a) The Ss can use the sentence pattern of inquiring the price, and further develop their language ability of “shopping”;

Well, how to achieve the teaching objectives better, to stre the key points and break through the difficult points? The key is how to make use of the proper teaching methods; I’ll talk about my teaching methods below.Part 2 Teaching Methods:
According to the modern perception theories and social intercourse teaching theories, I adopt the TSA method and TBLT method in my teaching, namely Total Situational Action and Task-based Language Teaching.
The former is a “scene — activity” teaching method .It establishes a real scene and the interaction between the teacher and the Ss .It emphasizes a dynamic information exchange between the teacher and Ss.
The latter offers the Ss an opportunity to complete the tasks in which Ss use language to achieve a specific outcome.The activity reflects real life and learners focus on meaning; they are free to use any language they want.
At the same time, make use of the modern electricity teaching equipments and all kinds of teaching means, it can mobilize the Ss’ enthusiasm and creativity in learning English.Part 3 Studying Methods:
Let Ss study in a relaxed and agreeable atmosphere.Ss understand the new knowledge in certain degree through the mental proce of seeing, hearing, saying, observing, imagining, thinking etc.And make preparation for completing the new study task.
After feeling and comprehending the language points, let Ss obtain the knowledge actively by probe study and cooperative study.Thereby, develop the Ss’ abilities of studying and working with the learning language independently.Part 4 Teaching Proce:
In order to realize the teaching proce systematically, properly and efficiently, under the principle of “regard Ss as the corpus, the teacher inspires for predominance”, I divide the teaching proce into five steps.Step 1 Warm-up.Sing a song: The coat in window.
So as to the psychological characteristics of children,singing a song can make Ss feel pleased and satisfied, and can arouse exciting motion.In this step, teacher and the Ss sing in unison and perform the song “The coat in window.”
Thus, review the sentence pattern “How much is …?” And arouse the Ss\\" performance desire, participation desire, and lead the Ss into a thick English studying atmosphere.Step 2 Presentation and practice.1.Design: Look for Cinderella.
Broadcast a part of “Cinderella” with the flash, presenting a crystal shoe that Cinderella lose, and establishes a scene of ministers look for the proper size everywhere.Through the role playing, guide the Ss to use the sentence pattern “What size do you wear?” “Size ….”to make the question and answer.This design is a novelty of my leon; it leads the Ss into the fairy tales.They acquire the language unconsciously and can do communication freely.2.Lead to the shopping topic naturally from the unsuited shoes, and demonstrate the sentence pattern “How much are they?”
With a good student to be the aistant, I perform to go shopping, and guide the Ss to make the answer: “They are ….”
In this course, Ss can understand the main contents of this dialogue and get the key points by scene demonstration.3.Game: Gue the price.
From buying a pair of shoes for me to buying a pair for my mom, introduce the sentence pattern “A pair of … for ….”
The CAI presents a big cabinet with various shoes, ask the Ss to gue their price, and then display them.
It considers that children can keep their attentions in limited time.The game can avoid the lifelene and boredom from the pure machine drills .It creates the conditions of a relaxed and natural atmosphere for children’s drills.Then achieve the aim of consolidating and deepening the sentence pattern.4.Present the text.a) At this time, John and his mom come to the shoe store.
It reappears the relevant conversation by broadcasting the VCD, let Ss know the text contents with a combination of audio and video, words and pictures, which cater to the characteristics of primary period to be curious and

To master the language capability needs certain amount of practice.So I still adopt the “Task-based” teaching method, which is defined by strong practicality and exact task, so as to make break-through about the difficult points of this leon.In advance, I shall arrange the claroom to some busine locations, such as clothes store, shoes store, fruit store etc.I shall divide the cla into groups and play roles, and then give the Ss a certain quantity of specie currency, so that they may choose and buy the gifts for Mother’s Day.
For this step, I shall instruct the Ss to use the words and patterns learnt in the proce of completing certain tasks.Meanwhile, they may have mutual improvement in exchanging information during the communicating activities.
Most Ss can take their parts in the activities, especially for the Ss who have trouble in English study.In the group activities, they can speak a little English with ease.With no doubt, this will encourage them to speak English.In fact, it incarnates a kind of demand of human being.Suhuomulinsiji says:
“In one’s mind, there is always a kind of deeply rooted demand that is the hope to feel oneself a finder and explorer.In Ss’ spirits, such demand is specially strong.”
This step also leads to the emotion objective of this leon that is to have moral education in this step.Step 4 Consolidation and extension.
Summarize the whole leon, and arrange the homework.1.Do the correlative exercises in the activity book.Check the mastering of knowledge of this leon.2.Ask Ss to interview their friends asking the price and size of their clothing and make records of the information.

Part 4 Teaching methods Well, how to achieve the teaching aims, stre the important points and break through the difficult points? The key is to make use of the proper teaching methods.Ss are expected to learn in real situation, so I will use some pictures, words, sentence cards and body language to help them get a better understanding of the content.A tape recorder and multi-media computer will help me to achieve the aims.The Task-based teaching method, communcative teaching method and Group cooperation teaching method will be used in this period.
Part 5 Teaching procedure In order to realize the teaching procedure properly and effiently, and under the principle of „student centered‟, I divide the teaching procedure into 5 steps:
Step 1 Lead-in I will play a English song for Ss and have a free talk related to this period with them.Purpose : to attract Ss‟ attention and conduct the atmosphere of English learning.Step 2 Presentation 1) As we all know ,the substance of English is communication and the environment of communication is life.So before I present the dialogue, I‟ll creat a real situation for Ss to speak English freely and happily.Purpose: This task will arouse Ss‟ interest and encourage them to ask questions with new knowledge.2) Guide Ss‟ attention to the dialogue, and have them read the dialogue individually to get the main idea.Ss are expected to answer some questions related to the new words.In this way, the new words are taught.Meanwhile I‟ll stick the sentence patterns on the Bb.Ss need to practise the new words and sentence patterns in different ways.Purpose : It will be much easier and clear for Ss to accept the new language points.Proper practice is benefit for consolidation.Step 3 Practice I will ask Ss to listen to the tape and encourage them to imitate to read and say.They will read in different roles and in pairs, then try to recite the text.Guide them pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.Purpose; to train Ss‟ abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of English language.Step 4 Consolidation
