浙江乐清市象阳镇与闻名全国的电器之都柳市镇毗邻，辖35个行政村，3.6 万人口，是浙江省教育强镇，温州市首批小康乡镇、卫生镇、工业强镇和百强镇，乐清市二类强镇、文明镇。2000年5月，被国家文化部命名为“中国民间艺术之乡”。
象阳的民间工艺历史悠久，技艺精湛，崛起于明末清初，繁荣于改革开放以后。以后横村为代表生产的黄杨木雕与东阳木雕、青田石雕并称“浙江三雕”，其产品构思巧妙，刀法流畅，形象栩栩如生。石雕以四板桥村为龙头，其产品以镶嵌、拼雕大件的作品而具特色，讲究因材施艺，精雕细镂，形象逼真，层次丰富。细纹刻纸以寺前村为主导，生产的产品以“细”著称，工艺讲究，富有情趣。此外上池头村、汤岙余村的竹帘刺绣，汤东、汤西村的园木嫁妆等风格独特，各具特色。
象阳工艺品的题材非常广泛，有的表现田园风情、山水野趣，有的表现人文景观、神话传说。产品中既有花瓶、笔筒、烟具、印章等实用品，也有人物、飞禽走兽、佛像屏风、山水风光等观赏品。刀法神奇、匠心独运，集实用、观赏、收藏价值于一身，深受国内外客商的青睐。
象阳艺人非常注重传帮带的培养，大都是子承父业，有许许多多祖孙三代共同从事民间艺术的雕刻世家，使象阳镇的工艺代代相传。全镇共有高级工艺美术师职称3人，工艺美术职称21人，助理工艺美术师职称30多人，技术员800多人。
象阳艺人非常重视市场信息，提倡因人制宜、因地制宜。象阳人在北京、天津、上海、南京、西安、深圳、普陀山、雁荡山等城市和旅游胜地设有工艺品销售窗口，还经常有国外的客人来象阳洽谈生意，销售网络比较健全。
Xiangyang Town: Home of Folk Arts

Xiangyang Town in southern Zhejiang Province"s Yueqing City enjoys various honors for its developments in education, medical care and health programs, industrial development, economic prosperity, etc. One of the honors is Home of Chinese Folk Arts awarded by the Ministry of Culture in May 2000.
Folk arts and crafts of the town date back to the last years of the Ming Dynasty and early years of the Qing Dynasty. The boom, however, came about after the reform policy was introduced in the 1980s. Villages around the town specialize in different crafts. Hongheng Village makes Qingtian stone sculpture, boxwood carving and Dongyang wood carving, the three major carving products for which Zhejiang is known across the country. Sibanqiao Village enjoys a reputation for its large-scaled stone sculpture pieces. Its embedded sculpture and put-together stone carving pieces are well known. Siqian Village is celebrated for its exquisite paper-cut masterpieces. Other products include embroidery on bamboo curtains and log dowries.
Artists of knives and scissors create masterpieces of landscape, rural delights, historical stories, myths and legends. Products include vases, brush pots, seals, smoking sets, and screens. They are both practical decoration pieces and valuable art collectors" treasures.
Crafts and arts run in families in the town. In some families three-generation carvers work together. At present, the town has three senior Masters of China Arts & Crafts, 21 masters and 30 assistant masters. There are altogether over 80 technicians involved in arts and crafts works in the town.
Xiangyang craftsmen have sales outlets in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Xi"an, Shenzhen, Putuo Mountain and Yandang Mountain. Foreign business people often visit the town.
